home

the road is so much easier
its good to be home
feel the warmth inside
the insides of the freezer
kick a brother from the same mother
argue about walking
watch a driller going underground
understand the same wow
all metal sparks and sound
take turns at everything and nothing
don’t need said
when you share the alphabet
the numbers follies follicles
easy as opening your arms
and closing your head
easy as leaving your heart behind each day

  1. Wonderful. Swirls and dips and spins around an idea. You get better and better, Ms Mist, I don’t know how you do it.

Thank you Mr.Squires, that feels wonderful!! I dont know either 😦

  2. “leaving your heart behind each day” – Genuis! It’s like a rubber band that pulls one back no matter how far one is far gone.
“kick a brother from the same mother” – Tickles me insides and funny bone, lol. And the sparks too, masterful.

Never read a poem about home that beats this one. 🙂

    Thank you kind sir :)!

  3. and nothing

    when you share the alphabet

For some reason these words, in particular, are echoing inside my head.

    Hey Maxine, thank you :)!
